Background of the ProjectEbenezer chapel was founded in 1740 by the Rev. Edmund Jones (Prophet of the Tranch). Since that date the churchyard has been used as a community graveyard for the Eastern Valley and beyond. For many years the churchyard has become overgrown with brambles, scub , trees and weedgrass, smothering graves and paths. Because of the age of the churchyard there are few surviving relatives to maintain the graves.Church members over the years contributed funds and given their services to maintain access to the graves but this has become increasingly difficult with aging and declining membership. Therefore this incentive has been set up in collaberation with Garnsychan partnership for funding to be applied for. The chapel has made efforts to attract funding from the Welsh Assembly and local authorities. Edmund Jones whose grave is prominent in the churchyard, was minister if Ebenezer from 1740-1793 and during that time he became author of many books which hold great historical and religious value. Unfortunately some books have been lost but many are housed in the National Museum of Wales at Aberystwyth.
